No-exam life insurance

Who qualifies for accelerated underwriting, the mechanics of how it functions, and what happens if you don't.

Increasingly, carriers offer accelerated underwriting: they evaluate eligible applicants based on age and amount limits using your application, prescription database, driving history, and additional information instead of requiring a medical exam. Frequently, you get a decision the same business day. Your quote always indicates whether a carrier needs an exam, might ask for one, or won't require one for that plan.

What it changes

Accelerated underwriting still requires thorough review. Your responses are confirmed, and policies issued based on false answers can be contested in the first two years. If the carrier finds questions during its check, it may request testing; you then choose whether to proceed.

Who tends to qualify

Most candidates are younger than sixty, requesting coverage up to each carrier's fast-track limit, without serious health issues, and tobacco-free for at least a year. Some carriers accept recent lab work from your doctor instead of a fresh exam.

Should an exam be necessary, you'll typically spend 20 to 30 minutes with a paramedical examiner at your home or work location in the Cathedral City area, free of charge. For healthy individuals, exam outcomes frequently result in an improved underwriting class, so the exam process isn't inherently disadvantageous.
